BRAG Blast- 4/29 Beavs dominate day two of NCRC 7's Championship tourney!! Start preparation for the D1-AA Mens Rugby Championships in Tucson, Arizona May 24th and 25th.

A truly great story...

Tough Day 1. Win vs. Boise 22-5, followed by a shock loss vs. WSU in a hail storm, 23-19.

We had an honest and open team meeting last night. Watched the drone footage - and chatted about what we wanted to do and accomplish today. We had clarity.

The challenge? We had to play defending champs Western Washington in the semifinals.

We lost two of our backs in the first 2mins with tournament ending injuries. But fellas, we are developing some pretty resilient guys down here - we stuck at it - lifted - and came out on top 26-14. Boys were ecstatic.

We celebrated for about 5mins - why not? I wanted to let the boys know that you have to enjoy those moments, always.

Championship vs. WSU.

The boys played with some edge, especially after losing to them yesterday. There was no way we were going to let that happen again. And we didn't.

Win, 31-7.

We were by far the most dynamic team their on the field. But most importantly, we were the most together and bonded unit by a country mile.

This is a great group, going to Nationals. A huge effort.

Another month of 7s and coaching coming up for me. Get ready.

The above was the first email the board received from Coach Troy after the tournament. I received some audio from coach to the alums that I cant add without one of my technical assistants so look for it in a second BRAG Alert this Thursday with lots of content about the big weekend and how the boys are preparing for the Nationals! Boy it makes me feel so good to see us continue to climb the mountain. The experience at Nationals will be huge towards our goals of consistently putting the club in a great position to compete at the highest levels. Time to raise some more money for the coaches fund. Go Beavs!

Sincerely,

Geoff Latham
BRAG and Alumni Board
Chairman

PS I could not wait to get the word out about the championship so this Blast is pretty small but huge in results.

Don't forget to save the date of August 3rd for this years OSU Alumni Rugby Golf Tournament and auction. We are looking for volunteers to help with the golf tourney and of course anyone who can help sell sponsorship packages to businesses and rugby supporters. I expect to have the full package and options very soon to forward to everyone. We can also accept gifts or packages for the auction. Anyone with some experience or desire to help the board with this aspect of our fund raising is encouraged and welcomed to email me at wookiebeav86-88@nickyusa.com.
